Top 6 Hidden Tourist Places to Visit in Udaipur Rajasthan

Rajasthan is a riches trove of the past and one can spend years trying to discover its hidden tourist places. All time I visit a new tourist place, I get blown gone with the Rajasthan past, there is lot of architecture, culture, tradition and beautiful tourist places. Here is list of top 6 hidden tourist places in Udaipur Rajasthan.

#1. Nathani ka Chabutra

A small platform rising out of the water near the Jag Mandir Palace has an interesting history. A professional tightrope walker of the Nat caste was promised half the kingdom of Mewar by a somewhat drunken maharana, if she could walk the tightrope from a village on the west bank of Lake Pichola to the City Palace on the east bank. The confident Nathani gladly accepted the challenge and, toes curled around a tightrope strung for the occasion, gracefully balanced her way over the lake until she had almost reached Jag Mandir — at which point, a canny minister imbued with a strong practical streak, had the rope cut. The girl fell into the lake and drowned. The kingdom of Mewar remained undivided, but a chabutra, a small marble platform, was raised in memory of this acrobat.

#2. Lake Fateh Sagar

Lake Fateh Sagar, lying north of Pichola, past Lake Rang Sagar and Lake Swaroop Sagar, was excavated in the late 17th century by Maharana Jai Singh.

#3. Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal

A little further north is the centre for Rajasthan's traditional culture. Created in 1952, the institution has been recording Rajasthani folklore and music, collecting local arts, staging plays, collecting Adivasi art, and supporting Rajasthani puppetry.

#4. Moti Magri

On Moti Magri (Hill of Pearls), in a garden named after Bhama Shah, the Prime Minister of Rana Pratap, is a 3-metre (11-foot) tall bronze statue of Rana Pratap astride his horse, Chetak. You enter the garden through a fort-like gate facing Lake Fateh Sagar. The road winds steeply up Moti Magri, past the Bhama Shah Garden which is laid out in Japanese style. The view from the top of the hill is well worth the climb.

#5. Sahelion-ki-Bari

Sahelion-ki-Bari (Garden of the Maids of Honour) was originally constructed in the early 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh, using the waters of the Fateh Sagar to feed the pools. It had been the scene of royal parties for centuries and is now a favorite spot with both locals and tourists.

#6.Sajjan Garh Palace

Sajjan Garh Palace was constructed by Maharana Sajjan Singh in the late 18th century. It is 5 km (3 miles) west of Udaipur, high on a hill called Bansdara and visible from miles around. It stands 750 meters (2,468 feet) above sea level. From the palace, there is a breathtaking view for miles around. During the monsoon, clouds shroud the palace, making it seem distant, ghostly and romantic. It is said a nine-storied astronomical observatory was planned here, but Maharana Sajjan Singh died when he was 25 years old, when only one storey was completed.
